GC Kids

We believe and take quite seriously the word from the psalmist that “children are a blessing from the Lord” -Psalm 127:3

We also believe in the power and responsibility of generational faith transfer (Judges 2:10) and what a travesty it is when kids grew up only to walk away from God and the Church.

As such, our programmatic ministry philosophy for children ages 0-18 is based on two pillars, what we call: catechesis and the power of moments.

Based on two great books (New City Catechism + Power of Moments ). Our focus in all programs, trips and events from Sunday morning to midweek Bible study is driven and motivated by these two pillars.

  1. That by training our kids in the same 52 doctrinal ideas found in NCC they will be better prepared and equipped upon graduating to not only fight, but win the idea battles they will undoubtedly face in college and beyond.
  2. That by creating moments like serve projects and mountain retreats we will create a “sticky” psychological connection between our kids and the local church. So that when they graduate and someone tells them the Church, God, the Bible are outdated, wrong or “out-of-touch,” it will be a mighty “bone of contention” for them as the Church holds such a special place in their hearts and minds.

We believe-and we say this emphatically-none of this is possible without partnering with parents: the primary disciplers of our children. We get your kids for maybe 2-4 hours per week, you have them for the other 160; no amount of effort, program or teaching will compare to the hours you spend morning, noon and night-in the car, around the table, at bed time constantly reinforcing the Word of God and the presence of the Holy Spirit in their daily lives. That is why Sunday morning attendance and quarterly supplemental events are offered to train you-the parents-on how to do this!

We highly recommend our partners at Legacy Makers for how to jump start your family into generational faith transfer.
